Obama’s DNC Winter Meeting Speech
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:14 am, 55 months ago
Obama started out his speech thanking Governor Howard Dean for the win in November. Interestingly enough, this is the first time I have ever heard of someone actually thanking the DNC for it.
He mentioned something that I found amusing. He mentioned American Idol and Survivor. He knows that he has that Rockstar aura around him, so he went on saying things like we shouldn’t base our decisions on “who goes to Hollywood or who gets voted off of the island.”
He mentioned that many of the decisions that the president and the republican congress has done over the past years have been ignored by the Americas.
This has brought this country to a sobering state.
He said that the decisions made in the next decade will become a problem for our children and grandchildren.
He said that it isn’t the time to play for the cameras, but the play for our future.
Obama went on that we are not fighting one another, and the challenger “won’t even be the other party.” We are fighting against cynicism.
We need hope.
He went on about how people want to see whitepapers and exact answers, but he said that there have been those things and it has never inspired hope.
Obama wants the entire country to have full healthcare by the end of the next President’s first term.
More to come soon…
