There is a hole in my pocket, my pocket, my pocket

Well I guess I might as well come out with it: I bought a MacBook Pro. The Laptop (a 2.33Ghz Core 2 Duo with 2GB of Ram and a 160GB HDD (upgrade from 120GB)) cost me $2278 (a few tricks got it down from the $2379 I would pay with just the education discount) and then I bought Applecare for $239. Comes out to $2517, plus tax ($141) and express shipping ($15) it comes out to $2673. I then bought Parallels for Mac for $79 and a Neoprene laptop case for $25. Total cost of this purchase comes out to: $2777. Once it gets here (Thursday December 28 according to Fedex) the order of things I am going to do is first install Windows in Boot Camp, then Parallels, Office for Mac, Photoshop CS3 Beta for Mac, Adium, Firefox (I don’t like Safari), Video LAN Client (Frontrow sucks), and finally some sort of game to keep me busy when I am bored.

Lego Mindstorms NXT Parallel Park

Well Christmas is coming. I asked for a digital camera (with optical zoom.) Now I wish I had asked for a Lego Mindstorms NXT.

Some guy made one that can parallel park all by itself, with just a verbal command!

Nintendo Wii and a Laptop

I am thinking of buying a Nintendo Wii.

I figure with Zelda I am looking at $300+tax and if I want another controller it will be $365+tax.

Only thing is, when I go back to Loyola I won’t have a big enough TV to play it on.

Hmm.

I am going to be getting another student loan to get a laptop. Right now it is looking like I will get an Apple MacBook Pro. I will put Windows XP on it right away. Hmm. $2700 for a laptop is… hmm.

Something for me…

I am really tired of being in this basement all day long, or spending all of a few hours at school. I am tired of having nothing to do night after night except watch TV and, occasionally, IM people.

I need to buy something for me. Something that will get me out of this basement, even if it is only into the living room. Something that doesn’t involve the internet or my cell phone. Something fun.

I am looking at a Playstation Portable or a Nintendo DS. The pricing isn’t that bad new or used.

Or maybe I will pick up a Playstation 2 and a copy of Final Fantasy. That game looks pretty cool and those systems and games are cheap used.

Or I will go on a trip. Take one weekend and go down to Chicago and meet up with some people. I have 2 plane tickets to Washington DC that have to be used by February. I’ll probably use them over Winter Break.

Something.

Apple Boot Camp

Windows XP On A Mac? Supported by Apple? I am now on the trek for $3000 for a Macbook Pro.

Not that I WANT to run Windows XP. I would barely ever. I want OS X. But I want Windows XP/Vista too. Be it to play a quick game of Counter-Strike: Source, or perhaps something that is cross platform (XP and OS X) but rosetta is slow. (*cough* Office 2003 & Photoshop *cough*) Of course some of this stuff will run in Darwine but honestly, I’m really looking forward to this. Apple will still make money off of me buying their beautiful and top notch hardware, and I’ll have more choices. I don’t see a downside to this.

30 Years of Apple. Yay.
