The Wellness Center is Useful

Thank god for Loyola’s Wellness Center.
It is basically the school’s free-clinic. There are nurses there during business hours you can call and set an appointment up with. They handle all sorts of crazy non-emergency stuff.

Like what I did this morning.

I took a shower and when I got out I dryed off and opened the cabinet above the sink. I pulled out some Q-tips and started cleaning my ears. Pretty standard stuff. Until the cotton on the end of one of them fell off… into my ear.

Beautiful.

So there I am, not sure if there is cotton in my right ear or not. I had a hard time trying to figure out what was going on because I could ‘hear’ but not insanely well. It was weird.

Now I’m not a total idiot, I didn’t grab a tweezer and start digging in my ear (piercing an ear drum would probably hurt) but I didn’t want to just leave it. So I decided to call them and said ‘hey, I think there may be cotton in my ear. I’m not 100% sure, but I don’t want to have this in my ear for the next week, do you have any time this morning to check it out.’ They did, so I setup an appointment for 15 minutes later, got all of my stuff for classes and made my way over to the other side of campus.

After filling out all the forms I finally got up and met one of the nurses there. And sure enough, there was cotton in my ear. Which they managed to get out, after trying for a minute or so because it kept breaking up. From the way it sounded even if I had used a tweezers I probably wouldn’t have gotten it all out.

So there you go, a wonderful department at Loyola dedicated to helping students who have medical issues… especially weird ones like me.

Stupid personal hygiene.
