Turns out Comcast Sucks

August 14th, 2007 at 9:11 am, 39 months ago

I was intending on going down to the new Apartment tomorrow to grab the keys and get the Comcast guy to come over to install cable. Well, it turns out that they can’t… they need a TV to be there to install service.

No, they can’t just leave the box and hook up the damn thing, they cannot bring their own TV, they need me to figure out a way to get a TV there… dammit.

I can’t get my money back for tomorrow’s bus trip (which is $20-something) so I am debating if I should go and just screw around for the day… I have until 8:00 tomorrow to decide…

My cousin is having a birthday party tomorrow night at The Cheesecake Factory, which I don’t want to miss… but… $20… bah

Today’s Meet the Press

August 12th, 2007 at 12:36 pm, 39 months ago

I was listening to a podcast of today’s Meet the Press (aka audio version of the show in full) and was listening to Markos Moulitsas Zúniga (Kos) of The Daily Kos and Harold Ford, Jr. of the Democratic Leadership Council. The argument was made that there is a liberal wing of the Democratic party (Kos) and a centrist wing of the Democratic party (DLC) and that either the liberals or the centrists were going to define the next presidency.

I personally feel that there needs to be a balance between the two. Issues that are important to me include Universal Health care, Personal Liberty/Rights, and The War in Iraq.

Universal Health care is more important to me personally because I don’t want to go without health care at any point in my life, especially if I am in-between jobs or in say Graduate or Law school. This would also mean lower costs to employers for employee’s health care, which means I can actually hire people if I form a business without having to worry about “the added cost” of bringing them on.

Personal liberty and rights because I believe everyone has the right to speak their mind, no matter what it is that they are speaking about. And that people should be able to do as they wish without government spying.

And The War in Iraq because I don’t believe that anyone else should be going over there, and gradually people should be coming home. We lost in Iraq, or at the very least we totally fucked everything up, so lets just get out ASAP.

More Updates on the Chicago Move

I am moving in to the new apartment in Chicago on the 18th (a week from tomorrow.) I can get the keys as early as the 15th (next Wednesday) if I desire. I am sending out the signed lease and deposit today via 2Day Fedex. This should be fun…

Oh Wonderful

I went down to Chicago yesterday to setup my class schedule and find an apartment. Well, the schedule is setup, and the apartment is set.. only thing is, this apartment is right next to the L.

Like literally, right on the damn thing.

Bah!
