BREAKING NEWS: Bob Barker Retiring

October 31st, 2006 at 5:23 pm, 55 months ago

This is the story that I was waiting for. This will prove to be my most important example of journalism. WOW.

Bob Barker is retiring from The Price is Right effective June of 2007.

Think of the number of kids who won’t have Barker to entertain them when they are at home sick. So… sad.

A Busy Week, Oh God a Busy Week

I have a (max) 10 page (double spaced) paper due on Thursday that I have barely started on. I have election weekend and election day a week from tomorrow (tuesday.)

Oh, AND I HAVE A TEST 2 DAYS AFTER THE ELECTION

I want to rip my fucking head off. School is more important so I have to finish this paper before I can do campaign shit. I am taking off Friday afternoon up until and through election day doing gods-know-what.

Something for me…

I am really tired of being in this basement all day long, or spending all of a few hours at school. I am tired of having nothing to do night after night except watch TV and, occasionally, IM people.

I need to buy something for me. Something that will get me out of this basement, even if it is only into the living room. Something that doesn’t involve the internet or my cell phone. Something fun.

I am looking at a Playstation Portable or a Nintendo DS. The pricing isn’t that bad new or used.

Or maybe I will pick up a Playstation 2 and a copy of Final Fantasy. That game looks pretty cool and those systems and games are cheap used.

Or I will go on a trip. Take one weekend and go down to Chicago and meet up with some people. I have 2 plane tickets to Washington DC that have to be used by February. I’ll probably use them over Winter Break.

Something.

She Fell In Love with the Drummer

It is Sunday Night and even though I woke up at noon, I am still exhausted.

I was out walking for a few hours yesterday for the Doyle camp. Now I am all for walking, but doing it for hours and hours isn’t exactly my idea of fun. After I got back having no energy at all I got some dinner and a few hours later fell asleep.

I have no friends in town. Everybody is out of town for college. I’m afraid to make too many friends here in Milwaukee when I know I won’t see them for more than a few months until I get back to Loyola.

I am trying to keep myself occupied, watching a lot of TV on my computer and drinking at lot of this new Coke Zero (Diet Coca-Cola Classic, Diet Coke is not a diet form of Classic)

And listening to a lot of music. Lately I have been listening to Wilco. Great band that I am surprised I had not heard of but only a few months ago.

Fall TV: 30 Rock and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

Every season needs a good new comedy. I think NBC found it with Tina Fay’s new SNL-like comedy 30 Rock. I’m not the biggest fan of Fay’s character, but I trust her writing to know that the character will evolve quickly. Tracy Morgan is laugh-out-loud funny (”I AM A JEDI!”) and Alec Baldwin’s bumbling network executive is just a classic character.

I much prefer Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and I would obviously choose that if I could only keep one, but I will watch both (and hopefully they both make it a full season, Studio 60 isn’t getting amazing ratings) One thing to remember is that they are indeed two different types of shows, drama and comedy, centralized around one idea (a sketch comedy show.) I’m a fan.
