Somehow I was expecting this…

I follow the Google Blog quite closely. It is a great resource. As you may be aware, recently Google launched Google.cn, a filtered version of Google for Chinese visitors. This sparked great debate online about how Google could offer filtered information, but I understood and argued that this was a good thing. It is better to enter a market that has no service with (admittedly) limited service than leave them in the cold. In what I could only assume is a somewhat official statement, Google stated their reasoning behind this move. It is similar to my point of view, and while I don’t like what is going on with intellectual freedom in China, I am glad that Google is at least trying to offer the world the most information it can. Bravo Google.
