The Only Sober One in the Room

No drinking for me this weekend. No drinking for me tonight.
Roommates are drunk. Friends are drunk.

It’s Beer-Thirty

My night started by watching comedian Aaron Karo do a routine on campus. The student activity fund paid $5k for him to come and perform for students free of charge, so I thought it would be worth it to check it out. He is an entertaining guy, although his jokes get repetitive. The organization that ran the event advertised him through his association with Collegehumor.com although evidently he doesn’t post there that often. I personally hate CollegeHumor, mostly because I think I could do a much better (and much less commercial) site. I should….

I left that event and went back to my dorm to clean up. I ended up going to the rugby party. Was the first one of the non-rugby people to show up (I thought I would be late). I caught the end of the game while enjoying some great beer (Michelob Amber Bock). They always get a keg of good stuff at the start and then the rest is all Bud Light.

The Loyola Rugby Team holds parties quite often. They make some good money off of the $5 admission price and everyone seems to have a good time. They also try to have themes every time they throw a party. Nobody other than the rugby people seem to find out about the theme until they actually show up to the party, so the only people dressing up are the rugby people. Tonight’s theme was rave, so there were black lights and strobe lights along with non-toxic (thank god) glow sticks.

The black lights were fun because everyone was writing stuff in highlighter on themselves. I was somewhat drunk when I wrote “What Time is It? Beer-Thirty” on my arm. I don’t even know how much alcohol I consumed, and the shot of Jim Beam at the end sure as hell didn’t help.

I went back by myself to the residence hall. I was content and felt I had my fill so I figured I would go back and chill for a little bit. Eventually the rest of the people on my floor came back and we created a rather loud ruckas in the hallways. Got yelled at by our RA to shut the hell up. I ended up in someone’s room watching the movie Snatch. I had seen it before, but it was still entertaining. I left before the end, mostly because I was tired and everyone else in the room seemed to have dozed off.

All in all it was a good night at college. Fun.

Dear God, Please Kill Me Now

I am afraid to say this… knowing the insane amount of laughter that this is going to cause… but I think I am enjoying some of the new songs that Hanson is putting out.

Check out a new track here

They don’t sound like they are 12 year olds anymore. Their voices have matured an insane amount. Even the horrendous “MmmBop” sounds tolerable (I’m never, ever, ever, paying for that song… or hell, downloading it illegally… ever…)

What brings about this sudden change. Evidently they are coming to Loyola. With the only cost to Loyola being a bus ride from the airport and 4 bananas (don’t ask me.) They are going to show a video and talk about their comeback and then play a bit (and they promised to NOT play “UmmBop.”) I may go just to hear them out…

Please commence the laughter now.

I want an iPod Nano

I want an iPod Nano…

They’re almost indestructible (check that link out), tiny, and come in black.

I’ve seen a few of them on the street over the past few days. Quite nifty. I just don’t want to pay for one.

Back in Chicago

I took the train back. It was a solid 3 hour trek from Milwaukee to my dorm room. I was tired afterwards, but I promised my roommate I would get a new heatsync fan to quiet it down a bit.

I made a mistake though, I decided to take the heatsync off of the processor to replace the old (noisy) fan and put the new one in. And when I put the heatsync back on, the computer wouldn’t POST. ARUG!!!!

To make matters worse, I don’t have a case speaker that will beep indicating what is going wrong! AHH!!!

So I started on my trek to find a case speaker. First I went to a friend who lived in the dorm, then another friend. Neither of them had one. Then I decided to look around the internet and see if I could buy one. I found one, but it won’t be here for awhile and it is expensive after shipping.

So I decided to go to Karl and Ray’s after my downtown communications class to see if I could pry one out of their computer. It didn’t have one. So here I sit, talking with Karl and Ray. I have choir at 3:45-5:00. Plus I’m hungry. Bah.
